Vidya Balan : Back in action!

Vidya Balan : Back in action!

Mumbai, Nov. 4 -- Now, who's this disturbing me while I'm chatting with you guys. Turns out to be my Bandra reporter who's insisting that I give him a minute right away. Hmm, he says that Vidya Balan, best known as the goodwill ambassador of saris, the national dress for Bhartiya naaris, has become the first woman to be featured in a sari on a popular lifestyle magazine's cover.
So? Reporter insists that the magazine in question doesn't feature women too often, and in its entire run, has never featured a woman in a sari. It seems that Balan has worn an artistic six-yard and has posed backless for the mag's anniversary cover. I think ladies just need to get up and take note of this sexy old-new avatar of hers, right now!

Mumbai, Nov. 4 -- Ooo, look who was here! Madhu My Mottu Maid and Rapchik Rajni had come over to collect their pending payments. I'm glad because I don't want to have anything to do with my past pest employees.
They've left me a message, which says that Ajay Devgn, accompanied by the entire Golmaal 3 team, went over to the KBC 4 sets. In between the shots, director Rohit Shetty and Devgn babu got into a conversation over tattoos. The director asked if he'd regret having only his daughter Nysa's name engraved and the actor promptly said, "Never. In fact, I may soon have Yug's name inked too."
Shetty, the ladies state, went a step ahead, and asked why he hadn't got Kajol's name engraved. To this, Devgnji just smiled and winked. Hmm, some questions are best left unanswered.

Mumbai, Nov. 4 -- Goooooooood morning my lemon-n-mint mojitos! How goes it in your world? Mine is all lit up, thanks to the Diwali greetings, crackers and chocolates! Before I can ask my chauffer to drive me to the nearest jewellery store for my itsy-bitsy diamond hunt, since I don't have anything new as yet to wear on the big Friday night, let me fill you in with all that is and some that isn't sensational in Bollywood. Here goes!
For starters, I've been told that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has become a hit of sorts in Malaysia this year. You're wondering what happened there?
Well, Jr Mrs Bachchan's Anarkali kurtas from her films Raavan and Robot, both multi-crore-bi-lingual projects, are becoming popular with ladies in the South-East of Asia this Diwali. My informers from Malaysia insist that Thiyananthan Bathumalai, a manufacturer in the country, is flooded with orders from ladies of all sizes, for kurtas similar to the kind that the ex-Miss India and Miss World wore in the two aforementioned films.
In fact, if the orders continue, the dresses are sure to become the best-selling items in the country this year. Oooo!

Deepika lifts 75-kg Imran!

NEW DELHI, Nov. 4 -- In most Hindi films, we've seen the hero lift his heroine in some or the other scene. But a heroine carrying her hero on her back. Well, Deepika Padukone has done exactly that. Deepika lifted actor Imran Khan in her forthcoming film, Break Ke Baad. Although it wasn't easy, she managed it after some training and rehearsals.
The scene in question features during the song Adhoore Hain. In the film, Aaliyah Khan (Deepika's character) plays the lead in the relationship with Abhay Gulati (Imran Khan). "Danish (Aslam, the director) felt that showing Aaliyah carrying Abhay was the perfect way to convey the drastic changes their relationship undergoes during the film," says a source from the film.
Turns out that was easier said than done, as Imran weighs 75 kgs as against Deepika's 55 kgs. But she underwent considerable training. Deepika also rehearsed the scene a few times. "To ensure that she didn't suffer any back trouble while performing the scene, she wore a thick, wide belt as a preventive measure," says the source. Talking about the sequence, Deepika says it was really "fun to shoot."
"Everyone on the sets was worried. But being an athlete, I was confident that I'd be able to carry Imran without any problem," she said. On the contrary, director Aslam calls it a complicated scene. "It's not easy to carry 75 kgs on your back. We didn't want Deepika to get hurt, so we were cautious," he says.

After the success of 3 Idiots, Kareena Kapoor and Aamir Khan, would be back to weave magic onscreen again! If sources are to be believed, the Kapoor girl has beaten Deepika Padukone to bag the role. Deepika Padukone was a strong contender for the leading lady part. A source tells MidDay, "It's a two-heroine film. Aamir was keen to repeat his 3 Idiots leading lady. Meanwhile, Riteish and Farhan wanted Deepika as they've worked with her before in Karthik Calling Karthik and found her to be a thorough professional and sincere in her attitude towards work. However, they all decided to go with Bebo. What worked in her favour is their last big hit together and the fact that AK believes she fits into any character comfortably."
If buzz is to be believed, Katrina Kaif is being considered as a second lead in the film directed by Reema Kagti.

Golmaal 3' completes a rib-tickling trilogy (Review)

Golmaal 3' completes a rib-tickling trilogy (Review)

golmaal3poster.jpg
By Satyen K. Bordoloi
Film: "Golmaal 3"; Director: Rohit Shetty; Actors: Kareena Kapoor, Ajay Devgn, Mithun Chakraborty, Kunal Khemu, Tusshar Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Johny Lever, Ratna Pathak-Shah;
Rating: ***
It is touted as the first trilogy of Indian cinema. It's about time that the distant cousin of Hollywood had one. Yet, what's important is that Bollywood did not need to have trilogies as one hit film has the habit of spawning a whole generation of films that look and feel like the original. "Golmaal 3" also suffers from that syndrome. Thankfully, it only feels like its previous avatars.
Despite retaining most characters from its previous outings, "Golmaal 3" enters a hitherto uncharted territory. Madhav (Warsi), Laxman (Khemu) and Lucky (Kapoor) are the three scheming sons of Pritam (Mithun) who manage to lure Vasooli (Mukesh Tiwari) into one scheme after another.
However, as luck would have it, in everything they start, they find competition from three other down-on-their-luck kids Gopal (Ajay Devgn), Laxman (Shreyas Talapade) and Dabbu (Kareena Kapoor) with funding from Puppy bhai (Johnny Lever). Gopal and Laxman are the sons of Geeta (Ratna Pathak Shah).
Inevitably, locking horns they end up destroying each others businesses. What the two groups don't know is that their parents are unrequited ex-lovers. When Dabbu finds out she schemes and unites the two lovers in a marriage without letting their children know about their step-brothers. All hell breaks loose when they finally find out and a hilarious war engulfs between the two groups right under their parents noses.
Like its predecessors "Golmaal 3" has enough laughs going through the film to keep the momentum. Johnny Lever as the Ghajini-style forgetful don who adopts a new filmy avatar every few minutes has the audience in splits. The few spoofs of old Hindi films, full of camera pans and quick zooms, will nostalgically tickle the funny bone. The twists of various popular phrases and known adages, raises more than a chuckle.
Mithun gets to do his "Disco Dancer" once again. Theatre veteran Ratna Pathak-Shah waltzes through the film with aplomb. Arshad Warsi is his usual tapori self while Shreyas Talapade and Kunal Khemu do a good job. It is however the beefed up Tushar Kapoor who seems to be trying too hard, and despite raising giggles, fails to arouse laughter. In the first part he, looking the most vulnerable, was the funniest of the lot.
Director Rohit Shetty tries his best in merging comic vignettes into one comprehensible film. However, had it not been for the funny dialogues, his lack of directorial verve would have shone out. He is spared the fate by some ingenious dialogue writing by Robin Bhatt ("Aashiqui", "Sadak", "Baazigar") and Yunus Sajawal.
Now that Bollywood finally has a trilogy, will it please also make one that also has some real standing in the world of cinema?

Voluptuous Kareena result of Saif`s insistenceGone are the days when Bollywood’s Bebo will go out on a crash diet to get a lean mean look for her films. Kareena Kapoor has visibly bulked up and like before is not shy to flaunt her newly acquired body.

In a statement to the media, Kareena Kapoor says that she is all set to burn the big screen with her new sexy image in her forthcoming Bollywood ventures.

Is the new look the result of boyfriend Saif Ali Khan’s insistence?

If reports are to be believed, Nawab Khan has worked hard to convince Bebo to get back to her previous self and following his advice, Kareena Kapoor has bid a happy farewell to her diet and workout, opting for yoga instead.

Bebo and Saif Ali Khan are presently busy shooting for a shoe commercial, where apparently the actress’ legs were looking plumper than it should. However, Kareena Kapoor herself was not bothered. In fact, the girl feels that she looks better in her bulky avatar, when compared to her previous Size Zero self!

Upcoming films featuring Kareena Kapoor in the lead role, will reportedly see the actress in a sexy avatar, promises the Bollywood lass. Films like Ra.One, Bodyguard and Agent Vinod will bring back the old bubbly Kareena Kapoor back to the Bollywood screen.

Vivek Oberoi's marriage shoes worth Rs 25 Lakhs!

Vivek Oberoi`s marriage shoes worth Rs 25 Lakhs! The Vivek Oberoi – Priyanka Alva wedding was a grand affair following every detail that a Hindu wedding is supposed to abide by. And while the Oberois had come fully prepared, hardly did the groom expect that he would land in such deep waters.

Yes, Vivek Oberoi had to shell out lakhs moments before entering the ‘mandap’. And before you start speculating, the groom’s shoes, as is a custom in traditional Hindu weddings, were snatched away by his sisters-in-law, who demanded a sum of 25 lakhs from the groom before handing over his shoe!

However, all of this was just in pure jest. Following the customs in a Hindu marriage, the sisters-in-law usually play strange and playful tricks with the groom with the intention of taking him unawares.

But little did Vivek Oberoi expect that his saalis would also play the same trick on him. Reports claim that the groom was not even armed with so much money and so the bride’s sister had to settle for a lesser amount than initially demanded.

A source at the wedding venue revealed that the Vivek Oberoi wedding was fun, what with all the mischievous games that his sisters-in-law engaged in.

Imran Khan loves Salman but pays tribute to Shah RukhAamir Khan was first choice to play Imran Khan's hero in Break Ke Baad. Shah Rukh Khan now holds that honour

Known fact: Imran Khan plays a diehard Shah Rukh fan in his forthcoming Break Ke Baad, a Kunal Kohli production directed by Danish Aslam.

Another known fact: Imran is related to Aamir Khan and is a real-life fan of Salman Khan two people who love to hate King Khan.

Little known fact: Aamir was the first choice to play the role IK's character hero-worships in the film.

BKB producer Kohli admits as much but adds, "But then, the whole mama-bhanja relationship would've got in the way of the character and the storytelling.

Audiences would get distracted and would've have giggled every time Imran made an Aamir reference." Kunal and his director Danish regretfully dropped the Aamir angle from Break Ke Baad.

Says Kunal, "Aamir and Shah Rukh are both iconic heroes for the generation that Imran and Deepika represent. They're influenced by him and his films as anyone who grew up watching SRK films.

In fact, Deepika plays a wannabe actress, who also makes SRK references.

Shah Rukh's Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai are the ultimate romantic films for the current generation. just like Rishi Kapoor and Bobby were for mine."

Imran not only uses SRK's references to make his point, he also has a sequence where he does a take-off on King Khan.

Laughs Kohli, "That's right. Imran does the Main Hoon Na signature hand-over-head movement, with his arms languidly spread out in an ardent expression of love, a la Shah Rukh. It's a signature SRK pose. And Imran did it effortlessly."

Now, let's hope Aamir is sporting enough to join Imran in the SRK signature pose at the premiere of Break Ke Baad.

Saif's sister is also in UK to attend a charity event hosted by a children's rights group.

Confirms Kunal, "Yes, Soha is flying down before November 5. She is taking time off her movie's promotions to be in Mumbai with me during G3."

The actor, who considers the Diwali release to be his big ticket, would like to have his girl by his side for his special moment.

He adds, "In the last 24 hours before the film's release, you are on tenterhooks a bundle of nerves.

Earlier you are busy with promotions so there is no time to think. But on D-day there are a lot of apprehensions and you want to gauge the feedback.

About the charity event Soha is attending, her beau says, "It is for Child Relief and You (CRY) with which she is closely associated."

Rakhi Ka Insaaf Faces Legal Trouble

Rakhi Ka Insaaf Faces Legal Trouble

Rakhi Ka Insaaf Faces Legal TroubleImagine TV started its reality show ‘Rakhi Ka Insaaf’ with a huge hope of gaining a good number of TRPs as it did with ‘Rakhi Ka Swayamvar’. But, the channel probably missed the fact that it is no more the item girl Rakhi Sawant’s personal issue because the new show deals with various personal conflicts of other people.

The show has barely completed two weeks in the channel and is now facing the wrath of law. A city lawyer Sushan Kunjuaraman has filed a case in Public Interest Litigation against ‘Rakhi Ka Insaaf’ in High Court demanding for taking the show off air.

The lawyer said that the show is not worthy to be aired for public entertainment. He added that Rakhi Sawant was seen mocking the judiciary and law in this show, which is very objectionable. Kunjuaraman filed the case on October 21 highlighting the fact that Rakhi is using foul language to undermine the justice, rules, law, police machinery, judges, litigants and their families. According to him, the show is also undermining the welfare associations meant for women.

Well, the trailers of the show were enough to indicate the kind of cheap entertainment it will offer. Court will start hearing of the case in a week or two. The lawyer stated that court is meant for law and justice and not for entertainment but ‘Rakhi Ka Insaaf’ projecting as a commercial premise.

The producer of the channel and the Censor Board’s chairperson has been sent a copy of the case filed. However, the producer has denied receiving any court issues.

Well, it is strange on the channel’s part to choose Rakhi for doing justice to various serious issues of people because the girl is popular for her controversial statements and acts. The item girl is also very famous for her foul mouth and short temper so how can she solve problem of others when she does not have control over her nerves? How can people get entertained by a show, where one lady is throwing shoes to someone, who is in turn abusing her with all possible wrong words?

Yeh dosti…` to enthrall Obamas at presidential banquet

`Yeh dosti…` to enthrall Obamas at presidential banquet US President Barack Obama and wife Michelle might just be tapping their feet to "Yeh dosti hum nahin todenge" when the Shillong Chamber Choir belts out Bollywood's evergreen ode to friendship to celebrate India-US ties at the presidential banquet here Nov 8.

The 16-member troupe, along with their conductor Neil Nongkynrih, promise to enthrall with English and Hindi numbers at the banquet for the Obamas to be hosted at Rashtrapati Bhavan by President Pratibha Patil.

"We have shortlisted a few songs for the programme. These include the American song 'Deep river', 'To god be the glory' and 'Ye dosti hum nahin todenge…', " Damon Lyndem, bass singer of the choir, told IANS over the phone from Shillong.

"The Hindi song signifies friendship and the purpose of our performance is to show the friendly ties between India and the US."

The choir is credited with winning India's first gold medal at the World Choir Olympics held in July in China and came to limelight after winning on the Colors' talent hunt show "India's Got Talent 2" (IGT).

Lyndem says they were approached for the performance "much before" their victory on the TV show in October.

"We were approached by the ministry of external affairs, much before the finale of IGT. A few MPs came to visit us, including Milind Deora, and they appreciated our work. But the confirmation of our participation came only after we won the show, " he said.

The troupe will reach the capital Nov 6 to meet a few diplomats to finalise the details of their performance.

"We will be meeting (Foreign Secretary) Nirupama Rao once we are in Delhi. She has great love for music and will be able to help us finalise the numbers and also the duration of our performance, " said Lyndem, also the media coordinator of the choir.

Their performance will be one among three acts planned for President Obama's welcome.

Nongkynrih, the choir's mentor, says they take the opportunity as a "blessing" since all the members come from humble backgrounds.

"I feel privileged and proud that such unlikely candidates like us have been chosen for something so special. Everyone is very grounded and so we take it as a real blessing to sing for a person as noted as President Obama, " he said.

He hopes the team will be "able to do justice to the event".

Though the choir plans to showcase their prowess in Khasi folk opera and English songs, Nongkynrih is very upbeat about the Hindi number.

"I feel singing in Hindi, the most important language of India, will be significant. But we would also like to sing in other languages and in Khasi, to show India's diversity through our performance, " he said.

The group sings in French, German, Latin, Naga dialect and in Assamese too. For the D-day, the group plans to wear a combination of regional dresses.

Ashmit and Veena have their own sweet time

Ashmit and Veena have their own sweet time

Ashmit and Veena have their own sweet timeFew Fights, few misconceptions, surprising nominations and discontinued happiness was the flavor of these two days at Big Boss house.

The day started as usual with the housemates gathering at the dining table to eat breakfast. Everybody quietly ate previous days leftovers of food and fruits. All hell broke loose when Manoj demanded to eat eggs over the the previous days leftover.

To his dismay, Dolly is this week’s kitchen captain, she refused Manoj and asked him to eat previous days leftover like others to avoid wastage. Manoj got upset about this refusal and started questioning Dolly.

While Dolly was trying to reason out with Manoj on the issue, he passed a comment saying “Kitchen kisi ke baap ka nahi hai”. Obviously a verbal fight was the least to be expected after this.

This comment from Manoj triggered Dolly who unmistakably took it personally and screamed at Manoj that “Baap pe Jaana Nahi”. The entire house was taken aback with this roaring brawl between Manoj and Dolly.

While the fight was still marching ahead, Ashmit and Veena chose to have their own sweet time with each other away from the nasty fight.

Ashmit got a lovely head massage from Veena and she undoubetedly was enjoying the role of masseur. And why not, especially since it is for Ashmit on the other side. Later in the day, Sameer asked Veena about the growing proximity between her and Ashmit and soon Veena goes pink on her cheeks, wonder why?!

While there is love blooming on one side, the strings are still strained in the house with regards to the kitchen dominance, misbehaviour and unwanted allegations. But those who are manipulating are doing their work well while those who are not, continue to become the scape goat.

Undoubtedly all are at an edge to plot against each other and are still unaware to the fact that Sara has been watching everything from the special room. All we can now do is to wait and watch to see all this and more.

Next day everything seemed normal, until they heard the most abnormal announcement from Bigg Boss. While everyone had planned to nominate Dolly for her uncouth behaviour, to everyone’s surprise 7 housemates was nominated on basis of planning and plotting against the Bigg Boss rule.

Is Shweta being stubborn or is Ashmit overreacting?

Is Shweta being stubborn or is Ashmit overreacting?

Is Shweta being stubborn or is Ashmit overreacting? 'Bigg Boss 4' is trying all means to keep the viewers hooked to the television show. After it was announced that 'Bigg Boss 4' has been defeated by 'KBC' in the TRP race, the producers have felt the need to sit up and take notice.

So are the latest events on the reality show planned to grab more eyeballs? Since we can't answer that question, it is better to delve on the events that have been going on inside the 'Bigg Boss' house.

Of late, Shweta Tiwari has reportedly been playing the stubborn girl in the house, clearly upset with captain Ashmit Patel and housemate Hrishant Goswami. The lady who was involved in a catfight with Dolly Bindra a few days back, now says that she is not prepared to listen to anyone, even if is the senior Manoj Tiwari.

Not in the habit of following anyone's orders, Shweta Tiwari says that she will from now onwards cook her own food as long as she is inside the 'Bigg Boss' house.

On the other hand, Ashmit Patel may also resign from the post of captain of the house. Though the audience feels that he is over-reacting, the actor does not want to face the brunt of back-biting from the other house inmates.

Dolly Bindra, on the other hand, seems to be working her way out quite well. Only time can tell what is in store for the viewers of 'Bigg Boss 4' in the future!

Amrita Rao walks the rampBollywood actress Amrita Rao walked the ramp in a red bridal outfit as the showstopper for designer Archana Kochhar's show at the Aamby Valley India Bridal Week (AVIBW), which was dedicated to NGO Nanhi Kali that works for the girl child.

"Today the collection was dedicated to Nanhi Kali. It is a charity that looks into the issues of a girl child. So when we are doing a show for brides, I thought that they all emerged from 'nanhi kalis' and its very important to create awareness about them so we did this show in association with this NGO, " Archana told.

The collection, which was an amalgamation of three lines, saw Amrita walking down the ramp wearing a heavy, red lehenga coupled with a long red sheer coat.

Asked why she roped in Amrita, the designer said: "It was a pleasure having Amrita as the showstopper. She is a very dear friend and I love having her as my showstopper. I love the way she carries her clothes and also the aura."

The actress too was excited to walk the ramp dressed as a bride.

"Being an actress I'm not professionally qualified to walk on the ramp but I have always enjoyed this experience. Though you are nervous as a turkey backstage, I think it's the sheer idea of entering into another territory that excites me, " said Amrita.

The actress added that she was happy that the show was in association with an NGO for the girl child.

"When we do something for entertainment but is also done for a good cause, then one feels very good. I'm really happy to be part of this, " she added.

The collection was called 'gulal', 'genda' and 'gehna', which are all part of a wedding in India.

The first segment of the show displayed garments in the colours of 'gulal' - red and pink. The second segment was inspired by 'genda' (marigold) and hence yellow and orange as colours were used. Then the final section was 'gehna' (ornaments) so the whole line was gold in colour and was embellished by red and green resembling rubies and emeralds.

Bipasha, Abhay`s International Debut in SingularityBollywood babe Bipasha Basu is going international with Abhay Deol as both of them will be seen in a Hollywood film titled 'Singularity'. The dusk beauty will be acting along with international actors like Josh Hartnett, Chris Pine, Bond girl Olga Kurylenko, Shane Briant and Christopher Egan.

The Akrosh girl will reportedly play a very important role in the film, which will be directed by Roland Joffe. Abhay's role is not confirmed yet. Joffe has earlier directed films like 'The Killing Fields' and 'City of Joy'.

The actress flew to Brisbane recently to start shooting for first schedule of the movie. Speaking about getting the offer, Bips said that a month ago, she bumped into the director at Taj in Bandra.

Bipasha added that she could hardly greet her as she had to attend a meeting but surprisingly she received a call from the director, who said her that she liked her voice and wanted to cast her in the film.

However, Bipasha has not signed the movie so easily. Unlike other Bollywood actors, who are excited doing small roles in international films, she wanted an important role in her international debut. The actress claimed that she will be playing one of the lead actors in 'Singularity'. The film was launched three years back as 'The Invaders' but since the script has undergone a lot of changes.

It is a historical romantic film with backdrop of the first Anglo-Maratha war during the 18th century. The film is set across two continents and two time periods. The story will involve a British officer and his Indian lover in colonial India as well as an American marine biologist and his lover. The researcher gets trapped in a wrecked British merchant ship.

The film is likely to release in 2011 and the shooting will be done extensively in Australia and India.

The 44-year-old, however, missed his close friend, Karan Johar, who directed the film.

"Poor Karan couldn't make it, down with malaria... he would have really felt proud about '...Khan'. Missing having him here... he would love Rome, " he added.

Akshay, Ash vie for resurrection this Diwali

Akshay, Ash vie for resurrection this Diwali

Akshay, Ash vie for resurrection this DiwaliAfter a down-on-luck stint and a repeated thumbs down on the big screen, Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai have teamed up to gamble it out in romantic comedy "Action Replayy", which is releasing Friday.

Produced and directed by Vipul Shah for approximately Rs.40 crore, the movie is hitting over 1, 800 screens in India and abroad on an extended weekend that commences with Diwali, considered to be an auspicious and coveted gateway for big ticket outings in Bollywood.

The story rewinds into the 1970s era and the movie will see Akshay and Aishwarya for the first time as a romantic couple. The supporting cast - Randhir Kapoor, Neha Dhupia, Kirron Kher, Om Puri, Aditya Roy Kapoor, Rannvijay Singh, Sudeepa Singh and Rajpal Yadav - are expected to spice up the romantic-comedy.

"'Action Replayy' is wholesome entertainment and has something for everyone. The tone is light but there are moments that will tug at your heart, " said Akshay who featured in 2004 release "Khakee" that also had Aishwarya. But they were not pitted against each other.

Aishwarya said: "I'm so glad that I finally got to work with Vipul and Akshay... we got to work on a subject where we've pushed the envelope in the comedy genre."

In recent times, Akshay's movies didn't do well, neither has Aishwarya had any big hit to boast about.

While Akshay has disappointed fans with outings like "Housefull", "De Dana Dan", "Blue", "Kambakkht Ishq", "8X10 Tasveer" and "Chandni Chowk to China" since last year, Aishwarya, who remained absent from the big screen in 2009 returned this year with Mani Ratnam's bilingual dud "Raavan" with husband Abhishek Bachchan.

The former beauty queen heaved a sigh of relief with her recent release "Enthiran" ("Robot") though the movie overshadowed her act thanks to the presence of Tamil superstar Rajnikanth in the lead.

So both the actors are hoping to hit the bull's eye with "Action Replayy".

Based on Shah's hit play of the same name, the film revolves around Bunty (Aditya), who is fed up of his parents - father Kishen (Akshay) and mother Mala's (Aishwarya) constant bickering. He believes his life would have been better if his parents would have had a love marriage instead of an arranged one.

His parents' constant fighting puts Bunty off marriage and he always runs away from his girlfriend, Tanya (Sudeepa Singh), whenever she tries to discuss marriage.

Tanya's grandfather, Professor Anthony Gonsalves (Randhir Kapoor), however, gives him the choice to either marry Tanya or forget her. In order to bring about a change in his life, Bunty steals the professor's time machine late and transports himself to the 1970s and tries to make his folks' marriage a love story.

Language barrier for Saif`s Agent Vinod crew in LatviaThe crew of Saif Ali Khan's forthcoming production "Agent Vinod" had a tough time shooting in Latvia, thanks to the language barrier.

"It was very difficult to understand their language since not many Latvians speak English. But we had a great team of locals who helped us communicate, " said director Sriram Raghavan.

The team is back in Mumbai after a gruelling, two-month-long schedule in Latvia.

The language problem notwithstanding, Raghavan says it was worth the experience.

"The landscape in Latvia is exceptionally breathtaking. We shot in many different locations across the different cities. We got access to some heritage structures, like old ruins, churches and museums, " he added.

How Priyanaka, Kangna and Bips will celebrate Diwali

How Priyanaka, Kangna and Bips will celebrate Diwali

How Priyanaka, Kangna and Bips will celebrate DiwaliBollywood celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn and Karan Johar are all set to light up Diwali this Friday with loved ones.

Here is what some B-Town residents have to say about their plans:

Priyanka Chopra: Thinking I'll head to London. I have family there and may just be a fun holiday.

Amitabh Bachchan: My father's marked verse on the Ramayana shall be read, a gentle prayer shall go up for all, from all; sweets and bonuses shall be disbursed to staff by members of the family.

There are now preparations on for Diwali, the lights for the house are being put up. The simple single toned white-yellow lights will be put all over the boundary and ceiling of the house and once up shall be switched on at that historic moment when we shall finish our Diwali puja and light the first lamp.

Ajay Devgn: I celebrate Diwali in a very simple way with family. We do puja at home. The whole family comes together on that occasion and I'll celebrate it just like every year.

Karan Johar: I will celebrate Diwali with my mother.

Dia Mirza: I'll be with my family and then Shilpa (Shetty) and Raj (Kundra) have called me to their place in Mumbai, so I'll go there to celebrate the festival.

Kangana Ranaut: Like everyone else, even I'll celebrate Diwali with my family.

Kunal Khemu: I love the festival of Diwali. I will celebrate it with family and friends. I also hope that everyone celebrates a safe Diwali and be careful.

Fardeen Khan: I will meet friends and be with my family.

Ranvir Shorey: This Diwali, let's put up a warm welcome for the leader of the 'free' world. And show we don't blow ourselves up, even if it's Diwali.

Prachi Desai: I have no specific Diwali plans. I'm going to miss my sister this Diwali because she is studying in Australia, but I will spend it with my friends. In fact, this will be the first time that I won't be shooting on Diwali day so I'll have a good holiday this year during the festive season.

While the majority of the tinsel town newsmakers have chosen to spend time with their family and friends, there are those who will be busy with work.

Hrithik Roshan: I have no idea, I am much too busy with work.

Bipasha Basu: I did go shopping for candles and diyas for my house and for John (Abraham). But I am upset that I won't be in India on the festival. I will be in Brisbane for the initial rehearsals of "Singularity" (her first international project). I am a very occasion-oriented girl and I like being home during festivals.

Hrithik's Guzaarish to Barbara Mori: Don't come to India

Hrithik's Guzaarish to Barbara Mori: Don't come to India

Hrithik`s Guzaarish to Barbara Mori: Don`t come to IndiaAsks Barbara Mori not to come to India to promote her Spanish film because it could draw attention away from his own flick
PS: Both films release the same week

Thanks to her Kites co-star Hrithik Roshan, Barbara Mori won't be flying down to Mumbai later this month to promote her Spanish flick My Brother's Wife.

Mori's film releases on November 19, the same day as Hrithik's Guzaarish.

Sources close to the actor reveal that he does not want Barbara in the city at a time when he will be promoting his film.

He believes Mori's presence in Mumbai will take attention away from his film and focus it onto them, given their history.

Don't spoil it for me!

It is learnt that Roshan Jr called Mori and categorically asked her not to come to Mumbai, even if this meant not promoting her own film.

Guzaarish is a sensitive and an important film for him, and Duggu doesn't want anything to affect the film's chances.

Incidentally, the Barbara-starrer will have a bilingual release in India. The Hindi version is called Spanish Beauty while the English one is called The Beautiful Wife.

Pen India has bought the nationwide rights to the film. Says an insider, "The clash of dates has put Hrithik and Barbara's friendship under strain.

Initially, Mori had confirmed to Pen India that she would fly down to Mumbai a week earlier (she was expected to arrive on November 12) but after Hrithik's call asking her to stay away, she is now in a fix.

She's not happy about being put in this position, but considering that she was brought to India by the Roshans, she has told her producers that she will not be available to travel to India for her own release."

The distributors have received feelers to move the release date of the Mexican actress' film but they are adamant about releasing the same day as the Sanjay Bhansali film.

The film's distributor Dhawal Gada claims Barbara has gone back on her promise, "We feel ours is a wonderful, emotional story which will connect with Indian audiences.

For the same, we corresponded with Ms Mori's manager Oscar for her participation in the promotions, beginning November 12.

Her manager responded that she would be busy with her play which opens in Mexico on that date. After that, we requested her to give a few video bytes for the promotions and that we'd even organise a crew in Mexico to cover it, but are still awaiting a response!"

Meanwhile, Duggu had this to say when contacted, " 'My Brother's Wife' is one of the movies we watched that concluded our search for the female lead in Kites. Its an award-winning film with a spectacular performance by Barbara. I wish it all the success."

Monikangana Dutta has intimate scenes with Hrithik too

Monikangana Dutta has intimate scenes with Hrithik too

Monikangana Dutta has intimate scenes with Hrithik tooThe Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer Guzaarish will release soon. A lot has already been said and written about the steamy hot scenes between Hrithik and Aishwarya, and this in itself, is being said to be the ultimate USP of the film.

However, what has caught the attention of many a critics is that the model Monikangana is also one of the protagonists in the film, and this film is her launching pad.

Reports are that the film has some very intimate scenes with Hrithik Roshan and Monikangana Dutta too. As Hrithik's actual love interest in the film is played by this astounding beauty, it is being said that in fact, if anything works for the film, then it has to be these very steamy scenes between the two.

However, as Hrithik gets into the wheel chair, after a paraplegic attack, he comes in close proximity with his nurse, played by Aishwarya. That is when the two get close which results in some hot intimate scenes.

Now, with two such beautiful women in the film together, the audiences are going to have a tough time in selecting the better couple, Hrithik and Aishwarya or Hrithik and Monikangana. Well, just like the uncountable Bollywood films churn outs with the same star playing twins in the film, we just wish that this flick too, will have Hrithik playing the role of twin brothers!

At least, the audience will then be spared to pick one pair against the other! Nevertheless, this gives us one more reason to wait for the film with enthusiasm!

Deepika and Shahid are Heer And Ranjha

Deepika and Shahid are Heer And Ranjha

Deepika and Shahid are Heer And RanjhaThe actress has been cast opposite Shahid Kapoor in Heer And Ranjha, whom she towers over

Director Sabir Khan has cast Deepika Padukone opposite Shahid Kapoor in Heer And Ranjha, a contemporary take on the old Heer-Ranjha legend.

The only reservation was the difference in the lead pair's height. Dippy is even taller than Sonam Kapoor, who is Shahid's co-star in Mausam.

It is a well-known fact that Dippy is very conscious of her heroes' height. Before the shooting of Karthik Calling Karthik, Farhan Akhtar had to actually stand next to her, and show her that he can match her height.

The question that arose was, would SK and DP look well-matched on screen?

Sabir succeeded in convincing the actress that she and Shaks would look fine together. He says, "I don't think it really makes a difference if the leading lady is taller than the hero.

Any heroine, no matter how tall, is keen to work with Aamir Khan. Dippy has agreed to do the film. I think Shahid and she make a great pair. They've never been paired before."

Adds the director, "We opted for Deepika because we needed a face that could look contemporary and classical. Among the current line-up of actresses, only she could measure up to my script's demands.

As for Shahid, he's an intense actor. I'm positive this pair can project the pangs of passionate love." Sabir is not telling much about his script.

However, what he does reveal is that H&R is not a classic take on the legendary love tale, but an edgy urban love story like what Baz Luhrmann did with Romeo & Juliet. The film starts shooting in April 2011.

Iam A Rebel

Iam A Rebel

Iam A RebelFaruk Kabir is anxious. There is less than a fortnight that remains for the release of his debut directorial and acting venture ALLAH KE BANDAY. However, his nervousness could well be restricted to the period between now and the film's release since after that, he can well be expected to move into his next venture.

"I am not limited to anything and have actually led a very adventurous life, " says the 28-year-old who hasn't stuck on a single project or place right through his lifetime and has always been on a move, "To my good fortune, I do feel that the way my life has spanned over these years gone by, I have lived every day to the fullest."

Faruk could well be right here. After all his life is not just centric to ALLAH KE BANDAY which is about teenagers taking to crime. Credit it to his growing up years but Faruk doesn't come with an essence of attachment to anything in particular.

"I have never studied in a regular school; I have always been in a boarding school so it has been a different kind of an upbringing, " reveals Faruk, "There in the boarding school, I was in the midst of a cosmopolitan background so there was a lot that I was exposed to. Even during my youth, I have never felt shy of striking a conversation with anyone and anywhere.

I can sit across the table and strike a conversation with you at the drop of a hat. I am comfortable anywhere, whether it is a jhopad-patti or an elite gathering. Also, I have never stuck with one single group of people ever. In a way, I am rebel."

This is what one senses in ALLAH KE BANDAY as well which looks rebellious by all means. Starring Sharman Joshi in the principal role along with Faruk Kabir, Naseeruddin Shah, Atul Kulkarni and Anjana Sukhani, the film is all set for 12th November release

Abhishek Bachchan to do Balki's next film

Abhishek Bachchan to do Balki`s next filmAbhishek Bachchan is in great demand these days, after the phenomenal success of Paa the actor has finally sealed the lips of the critics who once called him 'unfit' for Bollywood.

Abhishek is married to one of the most beautiful women in Indian Cinema (Aishwarya Rai); he hails from one of the most influential Bollywood family. But having an influential father was not enough for him; he had to prove his mettle by the power of his performances.

Balki wants to repeat the success story of Paa by signing up Abhishek for his next film. I am not worried about PILs against Guzaarish

I am not worried about PILs against Guzaarish

I am not worried about PILs against GuzaarishA case against "Guzaarish" has been dismissed as "frivolous" and producer Ronnie Screwvala says he is not afraid of more "loose" PIL (public interest litigation). He describes the Hrithik Roshan-Aishwarya Rai film as a "love story" with the controversial issue of euthanasia as part of its narrative.

"PILs are loose too, for people with hidden agendas. The film is a love story of a man and his life and, yes, euthanasia is part of the narrative, " Screwvala told in an email interview.

"We have been true to our story and while we cannot stop people in a democracy to file wasteful PILs, we see no issue at all. Relevant is that the first PIL was dismissed by the court as frivolous."

A lawyer, Aditya Dewan, has filed PIL in Delhi High Court alleging that "Guzaarish" promotes euthanasia or mercy killing, which is illegal, and portrays the legal profession in bad light. He demanded a disclaimer from the producers saying mercy killing is not legal in India and there is a debate on whether such deaths can be allowed.

But the case was dismissed by the court saying the facts averred in were inadequate for the court to appreciate...and that it cannot be entertained in its present form.

In the past, UTV Motion Pictures made meaningful movies like "Khosla ka Ghosla" and "A Wednesday" as well as commercially viable box office hits such as "Rang De Basanti" and "Raajneeti". It also produced Ashutosh Gowariker's magnum opus "Jodhaa Akbar".

But Screwvala, who doesn't like calling his production ventures "meaningful", says his banner invests in movies on the basis of scripts and the director's vision. And even for director Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Guzaarish", they did the same.

"Let's be clear - we do not make 'meaningful' cinema as we don't know what that means. We make movies with strong narratives, strong genres backed by a solid script and a clear-cut director's vision and all this to be a commercially successful movie.

Ready to hit the screens Nov 19, "Guzaarish" stars Aishwarya as a nurse and Hrithik as a paraplegic patient. This is their third outing together after "Dhoom 2" and "Jodhaa Akbar".

Sharman Joshi, Naseer to file PIL against government

Sharman Joshi, Naseer to file PIL against government

Sharman Joshi, Naseer to file PIL against governmentBy Subhash K Jha

Normally it is our filmmakers who are served PILs (public interest litigations) by disgruntled citizens.

In what could seen as a historic reversal of the relationship between cinema and the nation's collective conscience director-actor Faruk Kabir who has made a film on juvenile crime Allah Ke Bande, is all set to file a PIL against the Indian government for serious lapses in the laws governing remand homes.

Says Faruk, “During my research for Allah Ke Bande I had to visit several remand homes repeatedly. I was shocked to see how these homes, meant to be shelters for young wayward kids, were being managed. Let me tell you, these homes are not going to reform the kids. They will only encourage them to become bigger criminals.”

Knocked down by spasms of guilt Faruk has got together with his cast members Naseeruddin Shah and Sharman Joshi to file a PIL against the administrative teams that run India's Juvenile Remand Homes.

Says Faruk, “What I saw in these remand homes made a terrific script for my film. But I didn't want to treat these troubled and abused kids I came across as 'slumdogs'. I didn't want to come away from their lives with the feeling that I've just exploited these wretched kids for my film and then forgotten them.I've to take my interest in these kids beyond my film.”

Through the PIL Faruk intends to ask the Indian government some basic questions about the remand homes across the country.

Over to Kabir, “No counseling is being provided to the juvenile inmates which leads them to be as misguided as they were in the outside world. Many a times, they become psychologically damaged for life.

Innumerable cases have been seen where although sentenced for a year only, the inmates end up spending four to five years of their lives in remand homes because there is no provision for them to even know of their rights.

The Government has no program to make the delinquents self-sufficient by teaching them professions that they can use once they come out into the world and not go back into crime due to lack of options.

And there're no proper avenues for formal education for juvenile inmates when that is their right and duty of the various government agencies to provide them clasrooms, teachers, books, educational programs etc.”

Faruk feels by challenging the Indian government he would be fulfilling a duty beyond cinema.

Says the director, “It's okay to be using these tortured lives tell a gripping story. Having said that, don't we owe these wayward kids a chance to lead a decent life? Our remand homes don't allow them to grow.We need to change that.”

Meet `Mere Brother Ki Dulhan` hot-headed Katrina KaifBy Subhash K Jha

Katrina Kaif has just embarked on her most different acting assignment to date. The Yashraj Film which she signed while working in Spain with Zoya Akhtar would require her to go into intense preparation. Apparently the girl in debutant director Ali Abbas Zafar's film is so volatile and unpredictable the character is completely contrary to every personality trait in Katrina.

In the film with Imran Khan and singer Ali Zafar Katrina plays the craziest zaniest most stubborn and self-opinionated character of her career. And for that she needed special preparation.

According to producer Aditya Chopra's brief Katrina would have to play the temperamental girl after much preparation. Known to be well-behaved and gentle in person, Katrina plays a talkative ill-tempered busybody.

Says Katrina, “All I can say about my role is this girl is quite a number, The closest I came to playing something so challenging was in Namaste London and that was a cakewalk compared with this. The girl in Ali's film is… something else. I have to go completely outside myself to play her. Whom am I observing to play the role? I am not telling.”
